2024 Thanksgiving Menu and Meal Prep Timeline

* image These past few months have been busy for our family, especially since our oldest joined a local swim team. Between juggling our work schedules and balancing school with practices... we're all pretty wiped out. Although it's a lot of work, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Preparing the holiday meal for our family fills my heart with joy, and I can't wait to get started. To make things easier for me, I don't deviate much from  our first Thanksgiving  as a family. The dishes I make are familiar ones, and the recipes for them live at my fingertips. Keeping the same menu year after year means I don't have to spend time researching recipes or planning a new one. Here are my tried-and-true Thanksgiving recipes, as well as my prep timeline for the big day!

Featured Friday, Volume 1.7

After a busy week at work, late nights spent tackling my presidential duties for Chi Omega, and a mid-week trip down to Pennsylvania for Musikfest, I'm forcing myself to put my feet up and relax tonight. Especially since I have a 9-mile marathon training run on the schedule tomorrow. So, it's the perfect time for me to write another Featured Friday post!

That Just Takes Me Back

Did you grow up eating Chex Muddy Buddies? I did. In fact, that snack was so popular, one of our eighth grade Home Economics classes was dedicated it. Next to Rice Krispies Treats, Muddy Buddies were my favorite snack made with breakfast cereal. So, when I found Jenny's recipe for White Chocolate PB&J Muddy Mix on Picky Palate, I was immediately transported back in time to middle school. I love how food can bring back so many fantastic memories!

Almost Too Pretty to Drink

With all the attention paid to the plating and presentation of food, it's not surprising to hear people exclaim "Oh! That's just too pretty to eat!" But do people get that excited over cocktails after they've been served? I'm not entirely sure. I can tell you that seeing Marc's drink recipe for Basil Watermelon Caipirinha on [No Recipes] made me reconsider how drinks are presented. Marc's photos are beautiful and if I were lucky enough to be in the same room with those bad boys, I'd probably think they were too pretty to drink. Almost...

All the Single Ladies

I'm not normally a pancake person. When it comes to breakfast (or brunch), give me bacon and eggs or something else on the savory side of life. Pass the pancakes over to my boyfriend -- he'll eat 'em.  With that said, there are mornings when I wake up craving a stack of fluffy pancakes that have been drizzled with lusciously sweet maple syrup. But pancakes for one? I know what you're going to tell me. Make the batter, cook as many pancakes as I can handle, and put the rest of the batter in the refrigerator for later. The problem is, "later" for me is usually "too late." I got used to the idea of not making pancakes for myself. Until I saw Joy's Single Lady Pancake on Joy the Baker! Sweet, hearty, and just enough for one. Yes, please!
