This is the eighth post in my Taste of Tuscany series.
While planning our honeymoon in Tuscany, it was extremely tempting to jam-pack our schedule with back-to-back sightseeing tours in order to see as much of the region as possible. Especially since we didn't know when we'd get a chance to return to Italy. But as we progressed deeper into the planning stages, it became increasingly apparent that having time to relax without worrying about keeping to a schedule carried more weight than our desire to visit all of the must-see sights.
Our need to unwind played a huge factor into our decision to stay at
Borgo Argenina. The property, which was lovingly restored and renovated by our hostess Elena Nappa, was absolutely breathtaking. It was simply impossible not to be swept in by the romantic setting with its stunning vineyard views casting a spell over us, forcing us to slow down and take in the magic of it all.
Each morning, we'd make our way over to the main house for breakfast in a room that overlooked the stone terrace. We knew that completely disconnecting from the world was out of the question, especially since Stephen had to keep a distant eye on the business back home, so we'd get our internet fix over our morning coffee.
It wouldn't take long for us to be lured in by the tantalizing spread of food on the sideboard, where we'd cut large pieces of cake and help ourselves to the offering of fresh fruit and local meats and cheese.
It also didn't take long for me to fall in love with the way Italians did breakfast. I didn't miss my usual egg-and-potato breakfast choices one bit.
And, if we were lucky, Giuseppina would come join us in the Breakfast Room and wait patiently by our table for us to finish eating.
A fabulous setting, rich coffee, and a dog -- seriously, we couldn't have asked for more.
