2024 Thanksgiving Menu and Meal Prep Timeline

* image These past few months have been busy for our family, especially since our oldest joined a local swim team. Between juggling our work schedules and balancing school with practices... we're all pretty wiped out. Although it's a lot of work, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Preparing the holiday meal for our family fills my heart with joy, and I can't wait to get started. To make things easier for me, I don't deviate much from  our first Thanksgiving  as a family. The dishes I make are familiar ones, and the recipes for them live at my fingertips. Keeping the same menu year after year means I don't have to spend time researching recipes or planning a new one. Here are my tried-and-true Thanksgiving recipes, as well as my prep timeline for the big day!

Monty in Choate Collar | Taste As You Go

I haven't felt like blogging lately. It's not for lack of content. A good number of items fall under the "edit photos/write post" category, but I just haven't had the motivation to sit down and do anything about it.

I could make excuses -- I've been traveling a lot lately and need this time to catch-up on other things; the weather is too nice to be sitting inside at my computer; I'd rather be cuddling with the dog. But making excuses doesn't change the simple (yet, hard-to-admit) fact that my heart isn't in it right now. Of course, putting pressure on myself to stay on course and stick to a regular blogging schedule has only compounded the problem.

So, here's what I'm going to do: I'm going to make a choice.

Realizing that everyone suffers from ruts, I'm loosening my grip on my content calendar and publishing schedule. Rather than force myself to continue publishing new content four times per week (even when my heart's not in it), I'm going to write when inspiration strikes. Rather than chain myself to my computer to "finally write that blog post", I'm going to grant myself the freedom to do other things... Even if that means only publishing once or twice per week.

I know that, eventually, my motivation will return and new posts will appear more regularly again. For now, though, I'd rather write when I actually have something to say that doesn't feel forced or disingenuous.

And I'm going to take a guess that you'd rather read something that's genuine over something that feels contrived.

Regardless of my motivation level, I do want to say that I'm so grateful to those of you who continue to read Taste As You Go no matter what... Your support has made a tremendous impact on me. Let's hope that, for the sake of all of us, this rut doesn't last too long!

Menu Plan: May 19 - May 24, 2014

Monday: Soba Noodles with Miso-Roasted Tomatoes from Food & Wine Magazine

Tuesday: Do-Your-Own-Thing

Since Stephen has a softball game and I'm planning on attending an event in support of one of my colleagues, we've decided to just feed ourselves on Tuesday night rather than have me make something whenever I get home. Much easier this way!

Wednesday: Stephen's Choice

Did I ever mention that Wednesday is my favorite night of the week?
