2024 Thanksgiving Menu and Meal Prep Timeline

* image These past few months have been busy for our family, especially since our oldest joined a local swim team. Between juggling our work schedules and balancing school with practices... we're all pretty wiped out. Although it's a lot of work, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Preparing the holiday meal for our family fills my heart with joy, and I can't wait to get started. To make things easier for me, I don't deviate much from  our first Thanksgiving  as a family. The dishes I make are familiar ones, and the recipes for them live at my fingertips. Keeping the same menu year after year means I don't have to spend time researching recipes or planning a new one. Here are my tried-and-true Thanksgiving recipes, as well as my prep timeline for the big day!

A few weeks ago, my old graduate school roommate Sara and I met up for a bit of shopping. The reason? I needed new running shoes and running gear so I could start training for a 5k I'm running in May.* After spending over an hour in the sporting goods store, we treated ourselves to more than one indulgence: lunch at Chipotle and dessert from Crumbs Bake Shop. A sort of last hurrah to crappy food I shouldn't be eating while training.

We took our lovely desserts and ate them while surrounded by a collection of works by Tom Sachs along Park Avenue. Sara opted for the Cappuccino Cupcake while I went for the Cookie Dough Cupcake.

Heaven. On. Earth.

So, in honor of Friday and in celebration of the end of what has turned out to be a long and stressful week for me, I'm going to ask:

Are you a fan of cupcakes as much as I am? If so, where do you go to indulge? Do you have recommendations for a must-try cupcake shop in New York (or anywhere else, for that matter)? Leave a comment here and let me know!

Sweet Friday Wishes to you all!

* I should probably officially register for the Run so I can start soliciting donations from family and friends... *wink*

Crumbs is an amazingly good bakery, we used to get their cupcakes for birthdays at the office. I'd also recommend the Cupcake Cafe, a close second. PS Love the direction this blog is heading!
Sarah S. - If we had Crumbs cupcakes for birthday treats at work, I think I'd weigh 200 pounds by now. But maybe I'll bring some in as a treat for MY birthday.

Cupcake Cafe, huh? I'll have to check it out! Thanks for the recommendation!

PS. Thanks! :)

They have really good pumpkin cupcakes, but my personal favorites are the Sexy Red Velvet (I think this is the red velvet with the white icing) and Bob (yellow cake with a chocolate almond buttercream).
Corinne - Thanks for the recommendation! All of the varieties you mentioned sound delicious. I'm going to have to go on a cupcake tour of New York soon!

Who else is in? :)

A friend of matt's held a cupcake tasting party... unfortunately we couldn't make it, but maybe we could think about doing something similar... everyone brings in 2-3 of their cupcakes and then cut it into quarters to share! However, we did go check out Buttercup Bake Shop, and those were deliciously sweet!
LAngelita - I think a cupcake tasting party would be a great idea! And you know, "C is for Cupcake"... We could skip a country that begins with C and just do the cupcakes. :)

Ooh... Buttercup Bake Shop! Good choice!
I had my first crumbs experience last week. OMG so good!!!
LK- Healthy Delicious - Hooray! Which cupcake(s) did you get?
Yum! I could use one of each right about now. Sounds really good, hon. :D

The Hungry Mouse - I'm right there with you, Jessie! I'm almost tempted to head into Manhattan for an emergency cupcake run.

My boyfriend and I had a cookies and cream and my favorite raspberry swirl on Sunday. love your blog!
Ulla - I was seriously considering the Raspberry Swirl when Sara and I were there, but something about the Cookie Dough Cupcake just spoke to me. Must have been the half of a cookie sticking up out of the top. :)
