2024 Thanksgiving Menu and Meal Prep Timeline

* image These past few months have been busy for our family, especially since our oldest joined a local swim team. Between juggling our work schedules and balancing school with practices... we're all pretty wiped out. Although it's a lot of work, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Preparing the holiday meal for our family fills my heart with joy, and I can't wait to get started. To make things easier for me, I don't deviate much from  our first Thanksgiving  as a family. The dishes I make are familiar ones, and the recipes for them live at my fingertips. Keeping the same menu year after year means I don't have to spend time researching recipes or planning a new one. Here are my tried-and-true Thanksgiving recipes, as well as my prep timeline for the big day!

Featured Friday, Volume 1.2

This edition of Featured Friday is going to have to be a short one since I'm typing this up on my lunch hour and our office is closing early for the holiday weekend. (Woot!)

Make a Favorite Restaurant Meal at Home

Jen over at My Kitchen Addiction has proven that it's not impossible to recreate your favorite restaurant dishes in your own kitchen. Especially when you have someone challenging you to do it! Her Almond Crusted Tilapia with Orange Beurre Blanc sounds absolutely delicious and I love how she uses almonds to coat the fish as an inexpensive alternative to macadamia nuts. Can't wait to try the recipe for myself!

A Little Extra Effort for Those You Love

Have you ever asked yourself "Why didn't I think of that?" after reading someone else's blog? Well, that's exactly what I happened while I was catching up on some posts by at Joy the Baker. I love having fresh grapefruit in the morning, and I absolutely agree with Joy about her feelings regarding segmenting a grapefruit for someone other than yourself. But, I never thought to sprinkle the grapefruit with brown sugar and ginger before putting it under the broiler. Joy described it as "grapefruit creme brulee."

Um, Joy? You had me at hello.

Great Way to Use What You've Got

It's no secret that I love caramelized onions. And when I saw this recipe for Caramelized Onion, Artichoke Heart and Goat Cheese Turnovers from Anne at Cooking with Anne, I immediately clicked on the print button. (Sorry, Mother Earth, I like to have hard copies of recipes in front of me while I cook.) Little pockets of all things that I love to eat! Just another recipe to try when I have the time and the ingredients.

Or, since I know where Anne lives, I might just show up at her front door and ask for a special tasting!

Have a fantastic Easter weekend, everyone!
