2024 Thanksgiving Menu and Meal Prep Timeline

* image These past few months have been busy for our family, especially since our oldest joined a local swim team. Between juggling our work schedules and balancing school with practices... we're all pretty wiped out. Although it's a lot of work, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Preparing the holiday meal for our family fills my heart with joy, and I can't wait to get started. To make things easier for me, I don't deviate much from  our first Thanksgiving  as a family. The dishes I make are familiar ones, and the recipes for them live at my fingertips. Keeping the same menu year after year means I don't have to spend time researching recipes or planning a new one. Here are my tried-and-true Thanksgiving recipes, as well as my prep timeline for the big day!

Feed Me Friday

Summer Fridays. You don't know how powerful those two words are until you're staring at the clock, waiting for the minutes to tick by so you can shut down your computer and get a head start on your weekend. I love Summer Fridays. And, today is the very first Summer Friday of the season.

Hallelujah!

I'm a Food Blogger

For me, the big event of the weekend will be attending TECHmunch NYC 2011 tomorrow, and I can't wait! Even though I've been blogging for nearly three years, this will be my first-ever food blogger conference, and I'm looking forward to meeting folks in person, especially those I interact with via Twitter. I thought it only fitting to brush up on my food blogger festival etiquette so I could keep things into perspective throughout the day.

Are you attending TECHmunch NYC? If so, make sure our paths cross!

Who Needs a Bread Basket?

While I was reading through some posts from The Kitchn, I came across their write-up of the Stelton Bread Bag, available via Emmo Home for $29.95. I love this! The bread bag comes in a variety of colors, but I like the simplicity of the sand/white bag, as it would easily fit in with any tablescape. (I can't believe I just used that word.) Since the bag is made of cotton, it's easy to clean... But the best part? The bag is collapsible, so there's no need to worry about having enough space to store it. A great idea for the tiniest of kitchens.

Pass the Potato Salad

As you know, I'm picky about my potato salad. I prefer to make it myself so I can control the amount of mayonnaise that goes in it. Well, mayonnaise doesn't even factor into the dressing for the Asparagus and Potato Salad that I found on Oh She Glows! Instead, Angela uses extra-virgin olive oil and lemon juice as the base of the dressing. Doing this really stretches the possibilities when it comes to matters of serving the salad. Since there's no mayonnaise, the salad can sit out for longer, even on the warmer summer days, and there's no need to worry about spoilage. Perfect for those picnics in the park where you don't have access to a refrigerator!

Why Didn't I Think of That?

Have you heard about Pinterest? It's my latest obsession and how I found this recipe for Cheesecake-Stuffed Strawberries. I love strawberry cheesecake (with extra strawberries, thank you very much), and this is an ingenious way to play with that classic combination. Melissa of SugarDerby introduced them on her blog as an idea for a Valentine's Day treat, but I could see them as a great dessert for any occasion. Especially now that it's peak strawberry season.

Brunch Cocktails on a Stick

I love brunch. That's not a secret. I also love brunch cocktails. Also, not a secret. So, imagine how excited I was to find a recipe for Blackberry Prosecco Popsicles on Endless Simmer. And... honestly? Adult popsicles sound so delicious, I wouldn't want to wait until the weekend to have them!

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!
