2024 Thanksgiving Menu and Meal Prep Timeline

* image These past few months have been busy for our family, especially since our oldest joined a local swim team. Between juggling our work schedules and balancing school with practices... we're all pretty wiped out. Although it's a lot of work, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Preparing the holiday meal for our family fills my heart with joy, and I can't wait to get started. To make things easier for me, I don't deviate much from  our first Thanksgiving  as a family. The dishes I make are familiar ones, and the recipes for them live at my fingertips. Keeping the same menu year after year means I don't have to spend time researching recipes or planning a new one. Here are my tried-and-true Thanksgiving recipes, as well as my prep timeline for the big day!

Any skilled multitasker will tell you that the ultimate key to their success is organization. My organizational skills are rooted in my predilection for lists (just ask my family) and my ability to constantly keep one eye on the clock. With that in mind, I'm going to tell you something:

Thanksgiving is only three weeks away.

Preparing Thanksgiving dinner for family and/or friends can cause anxiety and coordinating the cooking efforts so that everything hits the table hot and at the same time can be difficult. But there's no need to panic. Just make your lists -- dishes you'd like to serve, ingredients you need to buy, what can be made in advance, etc. -- and take things one step at a time.

For the past few years, I've been fortunate in that I've only been responsible for bringing one dish to the Thanksgiving table. Typically, it's been an appetizer. Since the countdown to Turkey Day has officially begun, I thought it would be the perfect time for me to share my ridiculously simple recipe for Bacon-Wrapped Brussels Sprouts.

Yes, a lot of people out there are repulsed by Brussels sprouts. But I have yet to meet a single person who won't eat them roasted with bacon.

Bacon has magical powers.

Since this dish only requires two ingredients (three, if you decide to season with black pepper), it takes no time at all to assemble, which means you can devote more time to the more involved dishes and to spending time with your guests.

Get the kids involved, if you like!

Don't those look fabulous? Seriously... How could anyone turn these bad boys down?

Your guests will be fighting each other for the rights to eat the last one. Since you'll want as little drama as possible on Thanksgiving, you may want to consider making a double batch.

But you're the chef. You get the first one.
