35 Classic Thanksgiving Side Dish Recipes

Still need to plan your Thanksgiving menu? If you're looking for inspiration, then check out this fantastic round-up Classic Thanksgiving Side Dish Recipes on Taste As You Go! You know how some people get really excited about the return of the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks? That's how excited I get about turning the calendar over to November. Because November means the coming of the holiday season and the celebration of Thanksgiving. As much as we look forward to spending the day in the company of loved ones, Stephen and I have decided to stay home this year so we can enjoy our first Thanksgiving as a family of three. Of course, staying home means that I'll be cooking the big meal, and I have to admit that I'm a little intimidated by the idea. I know I have to plan for certain must-haves -- roast turkey, apple chestnut stuffing , and green bean casserole -- but I'm having a hard time choosing which additional side dishes to make. Gosh, you guys. Nearly two weeks have passed since I've updated the blog. Normally, that nubbin of guilt residing in the deep recesses of my mind would have developed into undeniable feelings of shame and monstrous pangs of regret. I've made sincere attempts at writing something new -- anything new -- but the words just weren't coming to me. My brain was elsewhere.

The truth is, I've been too busy enjoying being married to really care about updating.

At the risk of sounding trite, our wedding day was the best day of my life, and it meant so much to both of us to have the love and support of our family and friends as we exchanged our vows and started our journey together as husband and wife. I, for one, can't wait to discover the joys that marriage has to offer.

Stephen and I leave for our honeymoon in Tuscany in just a few days, so this may be the only update you'll see from me for a while. I promise, when we're back from Italy, I'll push myself to get back to a regular writing routine. That'll be a lot easier to do now that the wedding planning is over!

Before I go, a couple more pieces of exciting news:

  • On August 19, the day after our wedding, Taste As You Go turned four years old! I usually like to reflect on my blogging milestones and look back to see what was popular among readers over the previous year. Unfortunately, I was too busy this time around to devote the proper attention to such reflection. That means I'm going to have to plan something extra special next year. ;-)

  • Taste As You Go was mentioned in a Washington Post article about Julia Child and the celebration surrounding her would-be 100th birthday! Seriously, one of the coolest things to ever happen to my little blog.

I want to thank each and every one of you for continuing to read Taste As You Go and for continuing to leave comments both here and on Facebook and Twitter. It's been so much fun getting to know you and getting to learn from you. Here's to the next year!

P.S. If you want to see some more wedding photos, there's an album on Facebook for you to look at.
