2024 Thanksgiving Menu and Meal Prep Timeline

* image These past few months have been busy for our family, especially since our oldest joined a local swim team. Between juggling our work schedules and balancing school with practices... we're all pretty wiped out. Although it's a lot of work, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Preparing the holiday meal for our family fills my heart with joy, and I can't wait to get started. To make things easier for me, I don't deviate much from  our first Thanksgiving  as a family. The dishes I make are familiar ones, and the recipes for them live at my fingertips. Keeping the same menu year after year means I don't have to spend time researching recipes or planning a new one. Here are my tried-and-true Thanksgiving recipes, as well as my prep timeline for the big day!

A Taste of Fall with Cider Donuts from Cold Hollow Cider Mill

I was provided with samples of cider donuts from the Cold Hollow Cider Mill at no cost to me. I did not accept monetary compensation for this post. All opinions expressed are my own.

Truth be told, the folks from the Cold Hollow Cider Mill originally reached out to me back in November of last year. They wanted me to come experience the tastes of fall at their facility in Waterbury Center, Vermont. Unfortunately, a trip north wasn't possible at the time. After a few months of finalizing plans, they shipped a little bit of New England right to my door in the form of their "legendary cider donuts".

When the package arrived, Stephen and I didn't waste any time trying the donuts, but instead of rushing to get a blog post out, I made the executive decision to wait until it made more sense to be talking about cider donuts.

For a lot of people, thoughts of cider donuts come to mind when the leaves start to change colors. At the Cider Mill, they're not limited to just one season. They make their cider donuts fresh daily all year round... which is how I managed to get a dozen shipped to me in the middle of winter.

When I opened the package, I was met with the sweet aroma of spiced apples. The smell was so tempting, I almost bit into a donut right then and there. But since the Cider Mill recommends warming the donuts in a low oven for a few minutes before serving, I stopped myself and followed their instructions.

I'm so glad I was patient enough to wait for that first bite.

While the donuts were denser than I would've preferred, the flavor was fantastic. They had a deeply sweet taste that wasn't overpowering and that allowed the spices and seasonings in the cider to shine. And since the donuts arrived via USPS Priority Mail, they tasted like they were just pulled off the donut machine!

The Cold Hollow Cider Mill is a leading producer of apple cider and distributor of specialty Vermont food products, such as McIntosh apples, cheddar cheese, cider-based condiments, and maple syrup. With the holidays quickly approaching, consider checking out their online shop for some fantastic foodie gift ideas!

Thanks so much to the Cider Mill for being so patient with me in arranging for the cider donut sampling. Stephen and I enjoyed them very much!
