2024 Thanksgiving Menu and Meal Prep Timeline

* image These past few months have been busy for our family, especially since our oldest joined a local swim team. Between juggling our work schedules and balancing school with practices... we're all pretty wiped out. Although it's a lot of work, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Preparing the holiday meal for our family fills my heart with joy, and I can't wait to get started. To make things easier for me, I don't deviate much from  our first Thanksgiving  as a family. The dishes I make are familiar ones, and the recipes for them live at my fingertips. Keeping the same menu year after year means I don't have to spend time researching recipes or planning a new one. Here are my tried-and-true Thanksgiving recipes, as well as my prep timeline for the big day!

Menu Plan: May 25 - May 31

Monty Meets Asa Packer | Taste As You Go
Monty Meets Asa Packer

After having a really relaxing weekend with no agenda, I was *this close* to skipping the whole menu-planning process this week.

*this close*

I figured I wouldn't be focusing on cooking dinner too much with the holiday tomorrow and a work event consuming the tail-end of my week. But just as I was going to advertise my hiatus on Facebook, I felt guilty about bailing on the menu-planning.

And then I realized that I'd hate working without a plan this week... especially with my upcoming work event.

So... Here it is, Sunday evening, post-dinner, and I'm finally sharing the Menu Plan I threw together at the last minute.

Menu Plan: May 25 - May 31, 2014

Sunday: Grilled Beef and Vegetable Kebabs with Jasmine Rice and Sauteed Mushroom Caps in a Butter Sauce

I can't really take credit for this meal. When I asked Stephen what he wanted to eat tonight, he suggested kebabs. Then he offered to pick up the ingredients we'd need for the kebabs, and I just let him run with it.

While he was outside grilling the kebabs, I stayed in the kitchen and made up some rice and sauteed mushrooms to go with them.

Go team!

Monday: Memorial Day Party with Friends

We've been invited to join some friends for a Memorial Day celebration tomorrow afternoon, so I won't be cooking dinner. Instead, Stephen and I will be preparing something to contribute to the party table -- Slow Cooker Spinach and Artichoke Dip with Homemade Pita Chips. If all goes well, then I promise to share both of the recipes on Taste As You Go.

Tuesday: Pasta with Italian Sausage, Broccoli Rabe, and Caramelized Onions

I was originally going to use the combination of sausage, broccoli rabe, and caramelized onions on our pizza this week, but then I remembered we won't be having Pizza Night since I'll be busy at my work event. Instead, I'm going to toss all of that good stuff with some pasta and olive oil and call it a night.

Wednesday: Stephen's Choice

Thursday: Leftovers

I'm pretty sure we'll have leftovers from Tuesday night's dinner, so I'm not going to pressure myself to cook "something new" later in the week. If we, somehow, manage to make it to Thursday night without leftovers in the refrigerator, I know we have some ramen in the pantry.

You think I'm kidding.

I'm not.

I will resort to making ramen this week over cooking "something new".

Friday - Saturday: Work Event

So... What's on your Menu Plan this week? Are any of you hosting or attending a Memorial Day celebration tomorrow?
