2024 Thanksgiving Menu and Meal Prep Timeline

* image These past few months have been busy for our family, especially since our oldest joined a local swim team. Between juggling our work schedules and balancing school with practices... we're all pretty wiped out. Although it's a lot of work, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Preparing the holiday meal for our family fills my heart with joy, and I can't wait to get started. To make things easier for me, I don't deviate much from  our first Thanksgiving  as a family. The dishes I make are familiar ones, and the recipes for them live at my fingertips. Keeping the same menu year after year means I don't have to spend time researching recipes or planning a new one. Here are my tried-and-true Thanksgiving recipes, as well as my prep timeline for the big day!

Menu Plan: June 15 - June 21

Sharing our Menu Plan for June 15 - June 21, 2014

In honor of Father's Day (and my amazing father, David), I thought it would be fun to share this blast from the past. This photo dates back to an age when I had a hat for all occasions and a wardrobe filled with lace-trimmed dresses (and strategically-placed bows). To a time when all it took was one skyward glance to convince my father to pick me up and carry me wherever I wanted to go.

I wasn't able to celebrate Father's Day with my Dad in person this year, but he's been on my mind all day. I also wasn't able to catch him at home when I called this morning... I hope that means he was just out celebrating how awesome he is and that he wasn't screening his calls. ;-)

Despite the holiday, it was "business as usual" for Stephen and me today. We went out for breakfast and took Monty to the dog park so he could run off some energy. Then it was back home to continue my regular Sunday routine -- doing laundry, going grocery shopping, and sharing our Menu Plan for the week.

You'll notice that the Menu Plan is relatively light this week. I'm treating Stephen to a belated birthday dinner at one of our favorite local restaurants on Friday night, and then we have tentative plans to meet some college friends out for dinner on Saturday night.

As for the rest of the week, I wanted meals that would be satisfying to eat but low-key to prepare. Check out this week's Menu Plan below and let me know whether I hit the mark!

Menu Plan: June 15 - June 21, 2014

Sunday: BLT Sandwiches with Mom's Potato Salad

Ordinarily, I'd include avocado on our BLT sandwiches, but the ones in the market weren't quite ripe enough to use tonight.

Womp womp.

Monday: Quinoa Salad with Sourdough Croutons

This is definitely one of our favorite salads to eat in the summertime. Since I'm planning a night of leftovers, I'll keep the sourdough croutons separate from the salad so we can toss them in as needed. That way, the croutons will stay crunchy.

Tuesday: Leftovers

Wednesday: Stephen's Choice

Thursday: Pizza with Broccoli and Caramelized Onions

Friday: Stephen's [Belated] Birthday Dinner

Saturday: Dinner with Friends

What's on YOUR menu plan this week? Let me know in the comments below!

Also... Dad, if you're reading this -- Happy Father's Day! And, um, pick up the phone the next time I call, okay?
