2024 Thanksgiving Menu and Meal Prep Timeline

* image These past few months have been busy for our family, especially since our oldest joined a local swim team. Between juggling our work schedules and balancing school with practices... we're all pretty wiped out. Although it's a lot of work, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Preparing the holiday meal for our family fills my heart with joy, and I can't wait to get started. To make things easier for me, I don't deviate much from  our first Thanksgiving  as a family. The dishes I make are familiar ones, and the recipes for them live at my fingertips. Keeping the same menu year after year means I don't have to spend time researching recipes or planning a new one. Here are my tried-and-true Thanksgiving recipes, as well as my prep timeline for the big day!

Montclair Utley Rittler

When I woke up yesterday, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the weather was absolutely perfect -- a bright blue sky with only a handful of passing clouds. I couldn't have asked for a better way to kick off the official start of summer.

I even think Monty has recognized that something has changed. He lingers longer and longer when we take him outside for his walks, and he spends a good amount of time with his nose to the ground, sniffing out all of the interesting smells. I can't speak for him, but I'm looking forward to everything summertime has to offer, including spending time with friends and family.

In fact, when I look at my calendar for this week, I just smile because I see a bunch of social events in my schedule. That, of course, translates to a light Menu Plan, but I'm sure many of you can relate to the desire of spending as much time with loved ones during the summer as possible.

Without further ado, here's our Menu Plan for the week. Let me know what you're planning on cooking in the comments below!

Menu Plan: June 22 - June 28, 2014

Sunday: Pasta Salad

I'm planning on making a huge past salad for dinner on Sunday night so we can pick on the leftovers throughout the rest of the week. In addition to my fun outings, I have two freelance articles due, so I wanted to make life a little easier for myself by cutting back on the cooking from scratch.

Monday: Leftovers

When I say that I plan on making a "huge" pasta salad, I'm talking about cooking an entire pound of pasta and tossing it with lots of fresh vegetables. That'll wind up being plenty of food to get us through several meals over the course of a few days.

Besides, who doesn't love a good pasta salad in the summertime?

Tuesday: Dinner with Ashley in Scranton

I have a really fun evening planned on Tuesday. I'll be heading up to Scranton to record my aha moment, and then after that I'll be having dinner with my friend Ashley. Ashley not only is a dear friend and sorority sister of mine from New York, she is also an incredible travel writer and the spokesperson for the Mutual of Omaha Aha Moment Tour this summer. I can't wait to catch up with her and to hear about all of her adventures on the tour thus far!

Wednesday: Press Event in New York

I've been invited to attend a special event in New York on Wednesday evening hosted by Hyatt Resorts & Spas in Hawaii. The event will showcase the new flavors emerging on the Hawaiian dining scene and island-inspired cocktails created by acclaimed mixologist Julie Reiner. Should be a fantastic time!

Thursday: Ground Turkey Tacos with Homemade Taco Seasoning

Friday: Pizza with Broccoli, Mushrooms, and Ricotta Cheese

Saturday: Family Picnic in Connecticut

It's YOUR turn now... Tell me... What's on YOUR Menu Plan this week?
