2024 Thanksgiving Menu and Meal Prep Timeline

* image These past few months have been busy for our family, especially since our oldest joined a local swim team. Between juggling our work schedules and balancing school with practices... we're all pretty wiped out. Although it's a lot of work, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Preparing the holiday meal for our family fills my heart with joy, and I can't wait to get started. To make things easier for me, I don't deviate much from  our first Thanksgiving  as a family. The dishes I make are familiar ones, and the recipes for them live at my fingertips. Keeping the same menu year after year means I don't have to spend time researching recipes or planning a new one. Here are my tried-and-true Thanksgiving recipes, as well as my prep timeline for the big day!

Feed Me Friday: May 8th

On "Feed Me Friday," I share the items in my feed reader that have inspired me or have caused me to pause and think.

Not one week after telling you about how April was a productive blogging month for me, I have to confess that I haven't been able to stay on track so far in May. Finding time to write has been next to impossible and not having time to do something that I love, that makes me happy, has dampened my spirits a bit.

Thank goodness baby smiles and baby cuddles have the power to turn my mood around.

Even though I don't have the time to sit down and write out my own thoughts, I do have time to continue reading other blogs in between feedings, diaper changes, loads of laundry, and hurried trips out to run errands before Caroline needs to eat again. And that's almost as good as writing new posts to share with you.

If you want to see what's been inspiring me lately, then keep reading!

  • Now that the weather is warming up, I want to make sure Caroline is spending some time outside each day. Of course, being outside makes me want to gather the whole family around the fire pit making s'mores. Especially if they involve homemade graham crackers and bars of chocolate from our local chocolate company. Granted... we'd actually have to buy a fire pit and find space to set it up in order to make this happen. ;-)

  • Recently, I've been doing a lot of second-guessing when it comes to my parenting decisions. I've been trying to figure out where this sudden insecurity is coming from, and I think the questioning began right around the time I started reading this parenting book. There are moments when I'm overwhelmed by the fear that I'm doing something wrong and that other mothers are doing things the way I should be doing them. Thankfully, this article reminded me that there's no one right way to parent. What may work for one family may not necessarily work for our family, and as long as Caroline is happy and safe, I'm doing just fine.

  • Even though Caroline is almost two months old, Monty is still adjusting to having her in the house (and having her take up most of our time and attention). I've put some of the tips in this article into practice, and he's finally starting to come around to the idea of having a little sister.

  • Although this probably definitely doesn't gel with my postpartum diet, I think I've found my new baking challenge.

  • That is, if I don't work on learning how to make this little sweet treat first.
