Life + Technology: Testing the LG G4 for Verizon Wireless

I've partnered with Verizon Wireless of the Philadelphia Tri-State Region to see how certain devices operating on Verizon's 4G LTE network enhance my day-to-day life, both as a food blogger and as a new mom.

In continuation with my partnership with Verizon Wireless of the Philadelphia Tri-State Region, I've spent some time testing another mobile device that operates on their 4G LTE network (known as the "fastest and most reliable in the U.S.") to determine how the right device could enhance my day-to-day life. Previous reviews focused on the ways I used mobile technology in conjunction with my blogging endeavors, but now I'm going to add another layer to the mix by also considering how certain mobile devices help me navigate through life as a new parent.

As Caroline discovers more about the world, my fascination with her grows. It seems as if she's constantly learning something new, and it's only a matter of time until she figures out how to coordinate her body movements so she can crawl. (She's soooo close!) I don't always want to rush and grab my DSLR (assuming I'm able to remember where I left it), so having a reliable mobile device like the LG G4 to capture the everyday moments and the milestone moments is incredibly important to me.

In today's blog post, I'm sharing my thoughts about the G4, as well as some of the photos I took (and subsequently posted on Instagram). Keep reading to see what I had to say!

When I consider all of the devices I've tested thus far, it's safe to make the generalization that thin is in. The G4 is no exception (it measures 0.33" thick), making it super easy for me to slip into my back pocket and move around without awkwardness or discomfort. When I'm carrying the baby (and a bucketful of her toys) downstairs in the morning, it's nice knowing that I don't have to make a trip back upstairs to retrieve the phone.

The back of the G4 has a gentle curve to it, allowing it to fit more naturally in the contours of my hand. Plus, at 5.86 inches in length, I can comfortably hold and use the phone with one hand without having to adjust my grip or stretch my thumb to reach the top of the screen. It helps that the device only weighs 5.46 ounces.

With rear keys rather than ones on the side, accidentally pushing a button while holding the phone is a non-issue. Unfortunately, the device gets warm very quickly. I tested it without a protective cover and found that I had to put the phone down every now and then to let it cool.

The 5.5" IPS Quantum display with Quad HD Resolution blew me away. I couldn't get over how sharp the images were or how crisp the colors appeared on the screen. The quality of the videos was so high that there were times I couldn't believe I was watching them on a mobile device.

In fact, I enjoyed watching videos on the G4 so much (especially clips from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon) that I used it to take a lot of videos of Caroline, including this one to prove to people that she's not just a full head of hair with super cute dimples all the time. Thank goodness for the Laser Auto Focus feature, though. Without it, most of those baby videos would have turned out pretty shaky!

As with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the camera app on the G4 is easily accessible from the lock screen. No wasting precious seconds unlocking the screen and waiting for the app to open. And when it does, I have the option of shooting in either JPEG or RAW file formats, allowing me more control when it comes to editing images. For the day-to-days shots, it didn't matter so much while format I was using, but I loved being able to shoot in RAW when my subject was a plate of food!

At any rate, here are some of my favorite photos:
