2024 Thanksgiving Menu and Meal Prep Timeline

* image These past few months have been busy for our family, especially since our oldest joined a local swim team. Between juggling our work schedules and balancing school with practices... we're all pretty wiped out. Although it's a lot of work, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Preparing the holiday meal for our family fills my heart with joy, and I can't wait to get started. To make things easier for me, I don't deviate much from  our first Thanksgiving  as a family. The dishes I make are familiar ones, and the recipes for them live at my fingertips. Keeping the same menu year after year means I don't have to spend time researching recipes or planning a new one. Here are my tried-and-true Thanksgiving recipes, as well as my prep timeline for the big day!

Where I've Been

It's been months since I've blogged, and I'm about to reveal one of the reasons why.

A friend of mine recently introduced me to someone by telling them I had a "wonderful food blog." I accepted the compliment but felt like a bit of a fraud since it's been months since I've written anything new.

I didn't intend to stay away for as long as I did. In fact, I had a series of blog posts planned for the holidays, including my annual gift guide for food lovers. But sickness took us all out around Thanksgiving... and Christmas... and then our sweet girl and I got sick again a couple of weeks ago. Being sick was bad enough. But I was also trying to balance my day job responsibilities with the craziness of the season.

That didn't leave much time for anything else.

But there's another reason I've stayed away...

I'm pregnant! My husband and I are expecting our second child in early August, and we couldn't be happier!

When I was pregnant with our sweet girl, we waited to make the big announcement until I was in my second trimester. This time, though, we were way too excited about our news to wait that long. We told our families that she was going to be a Big Sister two weeks ago when I was only 10 weeks pregnant.

I'm 12 weeks pregnant now and looking forward to moving into my second trimester. I've experienced more nausea and morning sickness this time around... and I'm hoping both continue to subside over the next few weeks so I can begin feeling [relatively] normal again. And if I can regain some of my energy, that would be fantastic.

Even though I have a lot going on these days, I'm going to try and blog more often. I miss writing and connecting with you all.

In the meantime... Do you have advice about preparing your only child for the arrival of a new baby? If so, then share it in the comments below!
