2024 Thanksgiving Menu and Meal Prep Timeline

* image These past few months have been busy for our family, especially since our oldest joined a local swim team. Between juggling our work schedules and balancing school with practices... we're all pretty wiped out. Although it's a lot of work, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Preparing the holiday meal for our family fills my heart with joy, and I can't wait to get started. To make things easier for me, I don't deviate much from  our first Thanksgiving  as a family. The dishes I make are familiar ones, and the recipes for them live at my fingertips. Keeping the same menu year after year means I don't have to spend time researching recipes or planning a new one. Here are my tried-and-true Thanksgiving recipes, as well as my prep timeline for the big day!

What's for Dinner: January 27 - February 2

Looking for dinner inspiration? Here's what I've planned for dinner at our house this week!

It appears I'm horrible at choosing seats on public transportation. Most of my memorable stories date back to my commuting days.

There were days when I'd spend more time on the bus than I did in the office. I remember watching one passenger drink travel-size bottles of hand sanitzer. Then there was that one time that a passenger tried to bring a birdcage full of parakeets onto the bus.

So many stories. So many characters.

Take the gentleman sitting in front of me on the train to Philadelphia. He seemed friendly enough. But he spent the entire ride between New Haven to New York on the phone. He talked so much, I'm not sure the person he was talking to ever got to respond. The conversation was all over the place, touching upon the latest fad diets and the reasons why yoga is bad for you. Then he talked about his latest dating adventures (TMI, by the way) and which team he was rooting for in the Super Bowl.

Imagine my relief when he got off the train in Manhattan.

Now I can focus on what I'm doing and share what I've planned for dinner at our house this week. And before you ask, yes, I planned meals for the nights when I'll be away at a conference for work. Whether Stephen sticks to the plan or not is on him. ;-)

A Week of Dinners: January 27 - February 2

Monday: Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and Tomato Soup

Tuesday: Ground Turkey Tacos

Wednesday: Italian Sausage with Bell Peppers and Onions over Steamed Rice

Friday: Pizza Night (Stephen's Choice)

Saturday: Leftovers

How about you?
