2024 Thanksgiving Menu and Meal Prep Timeline

* image These past few months have been busy for our family, especially since our oldest joined a local swim team. Between juggling our work schedules and balancing school with practices... we're all pretty wiped out. Although it's a lot of work, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Preparing the holiday meal for our family fills my heart with joy, and I can't wait to get started. To make things easier for me, I don't deviate much from  our first Thanksgiving  as a family. The dishes I make are familiar ones, and the recipes for them live at my fingertips. Keeping the same menu year after year means I don't have to spend time researching recipes or planning a new one. Here are my tried-and-true Thanksgiving recipes, as well as my prep timeline for the big day!

The heat can make a person do some strange things. Before I ran into the grocery store yesterday, Stephen asked me to get ice cream because it was so stinkin' hot out. Of course, everything in the freezer case looked fantastic, and I had a hard time making up my mind.

I started chatting to the guy stocking the freezer case about Good Humor bars... and I asked whether he knew if they made a variety pack. He said they didn't. (Bummer.) But then he suggested I buy one of every flavor and a bonus box to take advantage of the sale they were running.

I didn't even hesitate.

I thanked him for his brilliant idea and walked out with four boxes of ice cream bars... and because it was so hot out, I almost served them for dinner. I was considering opening the boxes and letting everyone choose their favorite flavor. But, I walked myself back in time. We stuck to last week's menu plan by tackling the leftovers in the refrigerator instead.

Let's see if I can remain as resolute over the next few days. To see what I've planned for dinner at our house this week, keep reading!
